Our Certificates

What is FSC?

FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) is a global, non-profit, non-governmental organisation devoted to promoting ethical forest management. It was established in 1993 in response to public demand for a global chain of custody and wood-labelling system as well as public concern about deforestation. The Woodland Trust, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, and WWF are a few of the environmental organisations that support the FSC® certification system.

FSC® works to advance ethical forestry, maintain old growth forests, and preserve biological variety. Strict criteria are used to examine and certify forests. Independent accreditation agencies like SGS, BM Trada, the Soil Association, and many more conduct these inspections. The Forest Stewardship Council appoints these organisations, who grant certifications on behalf of FSC®. The forest must be primarily ecologically responsible and sustainably managed in order to receive certification. Strict human rights standards must also be met by the forest management. This makes the FSC certification method special since it ensures that a forest is responsibly maintained from an environmental and social standpoint. FSC certification is given to forests that adhere to these stringent criteria, also to manufacturers or companies like us that promote FSC-labelled timber and lumber-derived goods.

What is PEFC?

A worldwide non-profit, non-governmental organization called PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) was established in 1999. based in Geneva, Switzerland, that aims to change both local and global approaches to managing forests. Via impartial third-party certification, it is committed to advancing sustainable forest management. PEFC accredits organizations (such as Telarc) that provide certification to forest managers, manufacturers, and others (like us at OVOL Malaysia) who meet these standards and who use or produce wood-based products that are PEFC certified.

There are a few benefits of PEFC certification such as customers and consumers who support the expansion of sustainably managed forests with the highest standards for the environment, society, and ethics recognized by the PEFC eco-certification.

Adding on, PEFC is one of the world’s largest forest certification systems with about 30 endorsed national certification systems and more than 230 million hectares of certified forests.
